The Kannada celebrity Shivarajkumar is making news right now because he is running a campaign for his wife, Geetha Shivarajkumar, who plans to run for the Lok Sabha seat from Shivamogga. It was previously anticipated that his late father, the actor Rajkumar, would enter politics, but he chose not to. Shivarajkumar has now clarified this matter in a portal interview.

The Om actor said that Rajkumar had always aspired to enter politics and that this was not incorrect. When Rajkumar was at the height of his popularity in the early 1980s, he had a following that surpassed that of any politician of the day. He faced tremendous pressure to emulate his friends’ and adjacent states’ celebrities, MGR in Tamil Nadu and NTR in Andhra Pradesh.

But despite the pressure, the Shankar Guru actor turned down the chance to enter politics, claiming, according to his actor son, that he is beyond party politics and that his devotees come from all walks of life. Later, but in vain, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi attempted to ensnare him as well.

What prevented Rajkumar from entering politics? Raghavendra Rajkumar, his son and an actor, discussed this in a previous interview with the Bangalore Mirror. The late Kannada icon, according to Raghavendra, had stated: “I could have thought about running if the goal behind asking me to contest was that I could make a positive contribution in politics.” But they were looking for me so they could use me as a weapon. I was happy to take part when he invited me to join the Gokak movement, which he started five years after the 1978 election. It was essential that I participate, and I could contribute positively. But I was indispensable to that election. All I had to do was beat someone. Was it correct of me to not challenge?

Known affectionately as the Kannada megastar, Rajkumar dazzled viewers with his acting skills in more than 200 motion pictures. After experiencing a slight heart attack, he made the decision to retire from performing. He passed away on April 12, 2006, following a heart attack. In the February 10, 2000 release of the film Shabdavedi, he reprised his role as Inspector Sandeep.
