Olympian Vinesh Phogat is reportedly competing in the 50kg class, although no draw has been announced as of yet.

“There are no 50 kilogram and 53 kg draws…In the 50 kg Olympic weight division, where 14 wrestlers are competing, Vinesh has weighed in. Ad hoc panel officials are being beseeched by wrestlers to begin their competition, sources told IANS.

It has also been reported that Vinesh reportedly insisted on giving her a shot in the 53kg division if she was to lose in the 50kg division.

Nevertheless, neither the wrestler nor the WFI authorities have provided any confirmation in this respect.

We await further information.
